Deirdre McClure

Deirdre McClure, D. M. A.
Conductor Deirdre McClure began leading the First Parish Choir in 2010. Her work with contemporary opera in the San Francisco Bay Area has earned critical praise, most recently as Music Director and Conductor of the Oakland Opera Theater, an innovative company commissioning and presenting works by mainstream and emerging composers.
Past work includes the Oakland Community Orchestra, the Women's Orchestra of San Francisco, the University of California Youth Music Program, as well as the San Francisco Conservatory of Music contemporary music ensemble. She has toured the United States, Canada, and Mexico performing live music for silent film with the Club Foot Orchestra, and composed and conducted music for a television cartoon series on CBS. McClure teaches at the University of New England and conducts the Bay Chamber Concerts Odeon orchestras. A life-long UU, she is very happy to be working with the choir of Portland's oldest church. She resides with her family in Portland.
